Dogma (1999) - It Can Be Hell Getting Into Heaven
-So for their insolence God decreed that neither Loki nor Bartleby would ever be allowed back into Paradise.
-Were they sent to hell?
"THEY ARE ALL OKAY, and all those things could exist in THE SAME WOMAN. Women shouldn’t be valued because we are strong, or kick-ass, but because we are people. So don’t focus on writing characters who are strong. Write characters who are people."
When you’re enjoying yourself, doesn’t that mean that someone else is suffering as a result?
Even though I’m no more than a monster - don’t I, too, have the right to live?
Let’s hope Mamoru Hosoda’s next movie isn’t a Grave of the Fireflies reboot.
Night on Bald Mountain sequence in Disney’s Fantasia (1940)
Childhood trauma in a gifset
I loved this so much as a kid, like I GUESS I understand why it would have upset other people, but those people are wrong.
We always stopped the tape before this sequence came on, and I don’t think I was even really aware what it was we were skipping. I probably would have been spooked by it as a kid (there are some Disney sequences that were too scary for me, like with the Red Queen in Alice in Wonderland), but I can sure appreciate it now.
Growing up with the Hungry Ghost Festival this didn’t spook me that much, and I really enjoyed the charcoal sketch look to these shots, too.
What scared me in the original Fantasia were the brooms in the Sorcerer’s Apprentice clip.
